Study Guide to Part 1 of George Berkeley’s “Three Dialogues Between Hylas and Philonous”
Here is the Study Guide for Berkeley’s First Dialogue between Hylas and Philonous. It consists of a long table with passages from the text and my comments about them, along with keys to sections and page numbers.
It’s not a scholarly or historical commentary. Rather, it is designed to help those doing nondual inquiry, especially for topics relating to physicality, material substance and objectivity.
How to proceed?
You may or may not wish to review the background information about the Dialogues.
For the study itself, you will need two documents:
- The annotated text of the First Dialogue (PDF Format).
- The study guide itself (PDF Format).
Good luck!
